Speaking of Freedom, somewhere it is also about vehemently disentangling yourself and breaking free from the unspoken trammels and strains of conformist, stereotypical dogmas and conventional societal prejudices which we face often in the world. Sharing this beautiful piece of poetry from Prasoon Joshi, where he speaks the heartful perspectives of one such young woman.

‘Babul’ takes a beautiful step in this direction- towards freedom and liberation, Where a young woman is speaking candidly to her father, about her heartfelt desire to not to marry her off into riches, instead to marry her to a lohar (blacksmith), for all that she needs is to break through the shackles which bind her, confine her as a Woman and hence she wishes to emerge free;

Her reasoning is: that’s what an Ironsmith precisely does — cuts open them chains and shackles and she may find her freedom in marrying one. What a splendid soulful metaphor this is. If you like prose with a fresh, novel, and vibrant outlook you will love this.

Listen in — Babul, it’s fantastic how it’s recited.
